i have made a few changes to the IT Home-Lab this week. Firstly i set up a redundant PiHole (DNS Ad-Blocker) if the Main PiHole goes down. I also upgraded the PfSense Firewall to the Home-Lab edition to enable a few more features. eventually once I am able to get my hands on a VDSL modem that supports “Bridge Mode” I will be able to point all devices to the PfSense firewall to be more secure
I tried to migrate my VM’s to a VMware ESXi host but unfortunately the raid controller in the Server isn’t compatible so everything had to be reinstalled back onto Windows Server host running in Hyper-V. It’s ok for now but eventually i would like to get it all to ESXi as that will isolate the VM’s more and make the Home-Lab more secure. But the benefit of this was being able to move a lot more things into their own individual VM and get them off the host server, which makes it slightly more secure.
I am currently in the process of setting up Active Directory/ Controller and a Microsoft Exchange E-Mail Server, but a lot more reading will be required as its quite complicated…it will get there eventually.
I was able to get up and running 2 more Rust Game servers and i did an overhaul of the discord server to integrate Rust server monitoring and bi-directional game chat.
You can join the Discord by clicking the link here https://discord.gg/gPvvPwPVVd
And the rust servers can be found by the in-game server browser or using the f1 console command “Client.connect (Server IP:Port)”
